Leave it to MiHoYo to still leave you with something even when the rest ended up obvious.
So Ayato is our Kuronushi. And Yae and Venti's involvement stemmed from giving him a way to tell Kazuha about Scara. I'm wondering if it was even Yae that clued Ayato in on it to begin with since it seemed to be a chance happening that Ayato found out about it himself. Given how dangerous Scara is it only makes sense that the Archons needed to address it. But since Yae's no longer an actual Archon and Venti's both retired and severely weakened without his Gnosis it made sense to leave it up to the humans to figure things out.
And did I call it or did I call it? So of course it's all implied and those 2 would never give up the goose like that. But thanks to our resident blabbermouth Paimon we know that a. they were "chatting up a storm" in secret before we got to them and they immediately stopped talking when we did and b. they are scheming together. Just from that it's pretty obvious that it means Venti is in on the whole thing. And I don't just mean this event. I mean he does know who she is after all. So for all the grievances Zhongli has on the guy and how similar Yae is to Zhongli the both of them still value Venti as fellow members of the original Seven.
It's really cute to see them together but I am still copium for the reunion between Yae, Zhongli and Ganyu. Since Ganyu doesn't actually know that Zhongli is Morax though I'd say it'd have to be either some kind of implied meeting between the 3 (not what I want at all) where Ganyu's just left in the dark the whole time or separate meetings between Yae and Ganyu and Yae and Zhongli. But if we were to take part in this Yae/Zhongli meeting then there'd be no masking it anymore so either that scene has to play out without our MC knowing or it'd still have to be implied like this Yae/Venti meeting or worse the Yae/Kokomi "book review." I'd prefer that they just kept the MC out of the loop while letting us players watch their reunion though. But anyway since Sakoku is over I don't see why Yae couldn't pay a visit to Liyue one day to have this happen.
All that said I'd say at some point before this game ends I want to have an event that leads to a cutscene where all 3 of these surviving Archons get together again just like the good ol' days and drink the wine Venti brings them. I'd love to see him tease old man Zhongli while Yae snickers at them from the side maybe even coming up with ideas for a new series for the Yae Publishing House. I mean we kinda got that between Yae and Venti since they were already drinking but it's not complete without old man Geo.
Ahem but getting back to the quest I still have my reservations on the event turning out to be a Kazuha story quest instead of a cultural parallel with real world Japan. It ended up that our main event with the Five Kasen was really about Scara and probably the stuff we'll learn leading up to his attack on Inazuma and becoming our 3rd Inazuma Weekly Boss. And now Kazuha's going to play a major role in that grooming him to be more of a power player in Genshin's main story which falls in line with my theory about that.
On the topic of Scara though we now know a few things and have a few things to consider. So back in the day but long after Scara was already created and had his limiter removed by Dottore he decided to go back to Inazuma and destroy the Gokaden. In the Calabash of Awakening we learn that he did it out of revenge against "the bladesmith" and that for some reason he just lost interest. I think we now know why he lost interest.
He seems to be familiar with Kazuha's ancestors actually the Niwa clan specifically Kazuha's great-grandfather's mother? Did he get his heart broken at a point where he might have left the Fatui? (The Song of Life another piece of the Opulent Dreams says he finally obtained his heart.) Niwa is related to Niwa Nagamitsu one of the masters of Isshin. Could this girl from the Niwa clan have spoken to Scara and awoke the "heart" in him that he was searching for only for it to end poorly?
I mean it's pretty clear the secret we were supposed to say in answer to Ayato was why Scara mortally wounded everybody else but spared Yoshinori. And why tell Ms. Niwa that he chose the name Kunikuzushi meaning country destroyer?
On top of that this all could be looking at it too directly. What if he really wasn't responsible but he played a role in the incident? What if it was Niwa that wanted the Gokaden eliminated for her own reasons - maybe something to do with Nagamitsu the bladesmith? - which Scara decided to help her with. Then the plan fell apart so Scara took it upon himself to assume responsibility for it. That's why he "lost interest" and didn't finish them off and why he hated "the bladesmith."
Thing is this was a Scara from back in the day. This is before Unreconciled Stars and before the Archon Quest. So our current Scara both knows about the false sky and also has Ei's Gnosis likely meaning he's at the level of power and understanding she was at back at her best. Since Yae willingly gave it to him I suggested it was to affect him and let him see his self-destructive path with the Fatui. Also she did once promise him that Ei hadn't abandoned him and that she'd help him. So far the Gnosis has already gotten him to defect from the Fatui so who knows what else might happen.
It's anyone's guess at this point what's going on with the Balladeer but it's really interesting stuff isn't it?
