Precious Chest Miscount?
Update: As of patch 2.3, it seems that the miscount has been fixed. You can read more about it here. Nevertheless, if you are curious about the miscount, feel free to read below.
It should be noted that there is something strange that occurs, which makes it possible to open 2 chests twice. Chest #3 & 15 in the map below are found in the open world and are also part of the Tears for Tomorrow Quest. If #15 is opened BEFORE you complete the quest, it will reappear during the quest. However, if you open the chest during the quest first, it will not reappear in the open world. Chest #3 will appear twice regardless, so you do not have to worry about rushing to get it. And yes, the chests are counted twice in the battle chronicle. I started a new account to test this, and have screenshots showing this below.
The first screenshot includes the chests #3 & 15 found in the open world. The second screenshot is taken after completing Prologue Act 2 which contains 2 chests from the Cathedral and the 2 Precious Chests in the Fallen Tears (#3) and Stolen Tears (#15) part of the quest. The screenshots of the chests themselves can be found later in this guide.
Because of this, the maximum number of precious chests actually ranges from 294 – 295 depending on the order in which you obtained these chests.
I hope you will find this helpful. If there are any chests I have missed, please let me know and I will credit you with the find and update the guide.
