Intro

Yun Jin is a support that buffs Normal Attack damage with the same mechanic as Shenhe. But she scales with DEF instead of ATK. However, does that make triple DEF the obvious build for Yun Jin? Or would Energy Recharge artifact work better for her, like with Shenhe?
Conclusion

As previously mentioned, using triple DEF will maximize Yun Jin’s damage bonus, and since her abilities also scale with DEF, you can totally neglect the offensive stat from her polearm.
Unlike Shenhe that boosts her ally via Elemental Skill, Yun Jin does the job with her Burst. So it’s important to ensure it’s always available. Luckily, because she has no use for offensive stats, you can simply use Energy Recharge (ER) weapons. Her ascension stat is also ER, so you won’t need this stat from an artifact.
Artifact Main Stat:
• Timepiece: DEF%
• Goblet: DEF%
• Circlet: DEF%
Artifact Set:
1. 4-Husk of Opulent Dreams
2. 4-Noblesse Oblige
3. 2-Husk of Opulent Dreams + 2-Defender’s Will
For Yun Jin’s Artifact, obviously, 4-Husk will maximize her flat damage buff. But don't sleep on 4-Noblesse Oblige if the team doesn't have a Noblesse user yet. In a long run, it can outperform the bonuses provided by 4-Husk. However, if RNG isn’t kind to you, you can opt for the 4-star alternative, Defender’s Will instead. But as 4-star artifacts have far less potential than a 5-star, there are several things to remember:
1. Only use Defender on Flower and Plume
2. Don’t settle with two initial substat. Only upgrade if it has three (Thank you Mark Chang for the correction!)
3. If it misses the DEF% sub twice, then discard it
If the purple artifact is simply not to your taste, then 2-Husk + 2-Emblem is an acceptable alternative.
Best Weapon For Yun Jin:
1. Engulfing Lightning
2. Skyward Spine
3. Favonius Lance
4. The Catch
5. Prototype Starglitter
This one is straightforward: Any ER weapon is a great option for Yun Jin. My personal favorite would be Favonius Lance for its passive, but you’ll need plenty of Crit Rate substat for it to function properly.
Yun Jin's Mechanic
Elemental Skill
Yun Jin’s Elemental Skill is similar to Beidou, where she generates a temporary shield before parrying the enemy’s attack. This ability scales with her HP, which may give the idea that she can provide protection. This is totally wrong. Yun Jin is not a shielder and should never be built on HP.

Similar to Shenhe, Yun Jin also has a “Press” and “Hold” Version of her Skill. However, unlike typical characters, both will lead to the same, 9s cooldown. So it’s better to briefly Hold her Skill instead of plain Pressing.
The Hold Skill has two levels of charging, indicated by her Opera Flags. Charge Level 1 will summon the flags, while Level 2 will cause them to shine (she also shifts the position of her weapon).

The Press Skill grants 2 Elemental Particles while the Hold Version gives 3.
Elemental Burst
• Duration/Cooldown: 12s/15s
• Energy requirement: 60

The spotlight of Yun Jin’s moveset is her Elemental Burst. After casting, she grants Flying Cloud Flag Formation to her teammates, indicated with flags around the character. When the unit hits a Normal Attack on enemies, their damage will be increased based on Yun Jin’s DEF. This buff will last for 30 hits, with each character having their individual counts.
It’s important to note that this ability doesn’t snapshot, so Gorou’s buff will be useless for Yun Jin.

While Gorou, Shenhe, and Kujou Sara encourage mono-comp, Yun Jin performs better in a multi-Element team. Her A4 (Second passive) increases the buff’s scaling by 2.5%/5%/7.5%/11.5% of Yun Jin's DEF when there are 1/2/3/4 different Elements in the party.
However, I’d personally recommend going for Geo Resonance instead of a full rainbow team.
Talent Level-Up Priority

1. Elemental Burst
2. Elemental Skill
3. Ignore Normal Attack
Because Yun Jin’s damage bonus solely relies on her Burst (Q), you can actually ignore both her Skill (E) and Normal Attack.
Yun Jin's Constellations

✦ C1: Elemental Skill's CD is decreased by 18% (9s to 7.4s).
Priority: Negligible
• Unless you want Yun Jin as a Sub-DPS (which I won’t recommend), this effect is only a small boost for her Energy regeneration.
✦ C2: Elemental Burst increases all nearby party members' Normal Attack DMG by 15% for 12s.
Priority: Very High
• For the entirety of Yun Jin’s Burst, all characters will deal higher numbers. As Yun Jin’s buff is calculated before all the bonuses, this effect will also increase her damage bonus, giving it a double benefit. Among the 6 Cons, I’d highly recommend going for C2 minimum.
✦ C4: When Yun Jin triggers Crystallize, her DEF is increased by 20% for 12s.
Priority: High
• In a rainbow team, it’s trivial for Yun Jin to benefit from some Aura Elements and trigger Crystallize. So this can be a decent increase to her damage buff.
✦ C6: Characters under the effects of Yun Jin's Elemental Burst have their Normal ATK SPD increased by 12%.
Priority: Very High
• Yun Jin will not benefit from her C6 as she did with her C2, but it’s still a decent buff all the same. You can now try to meet that 30 hits Quota with some multi-hit attacks.
Choosing the Artifact
Tested Sets:
1. 4-Husk of Opulent Dreams
2. 2-Husk of Opulent Dreams + 2-Defender’s Will
Tested Main Stat:
• DEF/DEF/DEF
• Main stat value: 58.3% x 3 = 174.9% DEF
• Sub stat value:
1. 4-Husk subs: 6.56% x 6 = 39.36% DEF + 62.49 Flat DEF
2. 2-Defender subs: 5.25% x 4 = 21% DEF + 62.49 Flat DEF
Stat Overview

You can see here that 4-Husk (Full-stack) performs better than Defender hybrid. Because Husk will stack as long as Yun Jin stays off-field, maintaining this stat will be easy for you.

But how about Husk + Emblem compared to Husk + Defender?
Well, as you can see here, the 5-star’s advantage in substat can’t surpass Defender’s +30% DEF effect. That’s why assuming you managed to get ideal subs on Defender, I ranked it higher than Emblem.
Husk of Opulent Dreams VS Noblesse Oblige
Shout out to Marcien for this input!
Since I heard 4-Noblesse can be better than 4-Husk, I did a small test to compare the two. The listed characters are on their optimal build.
As you see here, Noblesse and Husk are pretty much on-par in terms of the character's Normal Attack. But if you consider the fact that Husk only affects NA while Noblesse affects more kinds of damage, 4-Noblesse Oblige can be the better choice for your team.
Team Recommendation
As I mentioned previously, I’d recommend double Geo over four-Elements teams. I originally wanted to slap Zhongli on each recommendation but decided to just say Geo xD
Eula + Raiden Shogun + Geo
This team is my favorite among the rest. I feel like Eula and Raiden is an amazing combo, and with Yun Jin onboard, Eula’s damage would significantly be boosted. Not to mention if the + Geo is (cough cough) Zhongli.
Ningguang + Bennett/Thoma + Xiangling
This one is my personal team. I love love playing Ningguang + Zhongli + Xiangling + Bennett. But in case Zhongli is needed somewhere else, Yun Jin is easily my substitute. Bennett can be swapped for Thoma to ensure 100% shield uptime for Geo Resonance.
Childe + Xiangling/Raiden + Geo
Childe is an AoE beast, so it should be trivial for him to consume Yun Jin’s buff.
Razor + Qiqi/Kaeya/Rosaria + Geo
Razor is no longer a common pick, but if you still main him, then Yun Jin can be his new best friend.
Yoimiya + Bennett/Raiden/Venti + Geo
Lastly, Yoimiya can also benefit from Yun Jin. One thing to note, though, Yun Jin’s bonus will not be affected by the bonus from Yoimiya’s Elemental Skill.
Personal Opinion
I really love Yun Jin. I think she can be a brilliant addition to many teams, but for me, she’s a lovely boost for my Ningguang. Unfortunately for her, though, Zhongli + Ningguang is still my favorite Abyss Combo, so she’s still out of my Spiral Abyss team xD
Penny for your thoughts
Do you think Yun Jin is better than Shenhe?
Do you use Yun Jin in Spiral Abyss?
As usual, if you have any questions, corrections, or feedback, feel free to throw them in the comment!
